As most of you know, I go to great lengths for a photo opportunity....and I’ve had a lot of help.🤓
Last year I flew to the remote Kenai for Alaskan brown bears, in February, Sam got me a press pass for the Rodeo, and many times I’ve had the privilege of being along side of internationally acclaimed photographers (Nat Geo, and the like!) as they’ve guided me to their favorite spots in their respective states. Sometimes just getting behind the scenes access at a wildlife refuge, park or zoo is an amazing opportunity.
So, now I have to give a shout-out to Heather for providing me with access to an interaction that few will ever witness....but again, with a telephoto lens. Safety first!
This mother and cub are gorgeous! And when it became to dark to take a decent photo, it was a privilege to just watch them. The cub is curious, rambunctious, and mischievous. The mother is attentive and ever watchful.
When the cub wandered up a hill into the trees she scolded him with a sound I can’t describe. They are in a fenced area in remote Montana that has rocks and hills and forest, so while they were not in the “wild”, they are not in the confines of a zoo either. Sometimes they were completely out of sight for long periods of time, then would bound through the trees, or climb them. The cub ambushed his mother regularly! I literally took thousands of pictures of them. Most are out of focus, in dark shadow, backlit or most tragically, only partially in the frame.😩🙁🧐
But for the ones that are mostly in focus, mostly in good light, and have a respectable percentage in the frame.......I will include them in a gallery.
I treasure the experience and treasure all the images, and I hope they convey some of what was truly a pleasure and privilege to witness......and photograph!😃🎉
