SerenePeople often ask me "what was it like there?" The "there" being whatever circumstance I was in while taking a photo. Photos may say a thousand words, but sometimes you need a few more. Video, even my lousy video, helps give some photos more context. And where there is moving water, there is generally noise...but the resulting photo can be so serene.
Last week I was taking pictures of the Salt River Wild Horses...again. And I finally remembered to take a little video with my phone. It is usually someone else who thinks to film things. I'm usually so intent on getting a picture of wildlife, especially if time is of the essence, it doesn't occur to me.
I was alone along this little stretch of the Salt River, (contemplating my safety actually) as the sun was setting. It was so peaceful there with about 7-8 wild horses grazing. Not fearful of the horses, but I read that a woman went missing there last month. Since it was just me, and I had been standing there a long time, the horses grazed closer and closer to me.
It was not until I played my little video later that I realized how noisy it actually was! Somehow city noises translate to actual noise for me, but the noise of the water and the birds didn't seem so loud. It is loud!
