I wouldn't swim to shore!I've twice had the opportunity to visit Lake Clark NP in the Kenai, Alaska. Both times I elected to photograph from a small pontoon boat. I love this vantage point because the bears are facing the water, and me, to fish for salmon. My first trip the wind was so fierce I struggled to get any bear photos in focus. I bounced up and down on that water for 6 hours. (I had the sore swollen knees to prove it too!) But I was hooked, and still came home with a few keepers. Careful what you wish for, as they say. The next time, a year later, the place looked like Fantasy Island. It was a sunny day, complete with gorgeous waterfalls. That is what the attached video shows. What I had failed to realize the first trip, due to the gale force winds, was that wind keeps mosquitoes away. Live and learn.....I would go back again... it is Alaska, bear country....much worse could happen, and I wouldn't want to swim to shore.
